Shadow World

The shadows of my world
Flit about me cackling
At my misery.

Swooping in close
Lighting upon my shoulder
Whispering dark deeds
And unfullfilled desires
Tearing at the fragile shield
Around my mind.

I wrap my arms about
Myself and sink to my knee's
The cold wet sand rough upon
My flesh.

The sun sinks below the
Distant waves
The false warmth fading,
The light s temporary beacon
In the Shadow World.
